Unfortunately we weren't in a position to roll our own forum application.
I did a pretty rigorous examination of a whole bunch of options and chose Ideascale, which has lost of great features, and is nicely customisable.
I fully appreciate there are a whole bunch of glitches like this that I find really troublesome as well, but, beyond passing them on, there's sadly not a lot I can do about this one :(

Oh not all all Brett! I hadn't done any voting myself so I hadn't even noticed that vote accepted thing - it *is* annoying!
I've fixed up the drop shadow (mostly), but auto-hiding the pop-up would take some potentially serious hacking that I, quite honestly, haven't got the time for. Sorry.
Also, the whole thing uses tables for layout. So there's plenty to fix up ;-)
I don't think it is that much of a nuisance just would have been nice to have seen it fade out.
