Front-end Optimisation primer

Real world demos of gzipping, minifying, caching. Combined with a tutorial on CSS spriting (right down to 1 image file like google and others) to reduce HTTP requests, linking to images from multiple sub domains to allow then to be downloaded in parallel (current limit per domain is 2), even PNG optimisation to squeeze out every Kilobyte.

It could be done as a panel with a bunch of speakers. I would be willing to speak or contribute in some way.

This is close to the Dev Power Tools proposal
Not really, Gary. The Dev power tools would be very broad. This is specific to front end optimisation which I feel is a topic by itself.
I'm a UX designer and I've posted a speaker suggestion that covers this very topic. I worked with a very talented front end developer for a few years, who is brilliant and his experience is right up this alley.
I'd like to hear Steve Souders from Yahoo! talk about this. I loved this short, to-the-point book on the topic.
Looks like Steve Sounders no longer works at Yahoo! (I'm at Yahoo!7, just did an internal search to check). He's now at Google according to his site:

Yslow is key to both back and front end design at Y!
Like the dev power tools, this would make a good panel (like the JavaScript frameworks panel last year).
Really interesting that the session suggestion above is almost identical to this, but is rated right now at -12, while this is +13 - reminds me of an episode of the Simpsons;-)

Focus Group Guy: [after showing the kids some Itchy & Scratchy cartoons] Okay, how many of the kids would like Itchy & Scratchy to deal with real life problems like the ones you face every day?
[the kids cheer]
Focus Group Guy: And who would like to see them do just the opposite, getting into far-out situations involving robots and magic powers.
[the kid kids cheer again]
Focus Group Guy: So you want a realistic down-to-earth show that's completely off the wall and swarming with magic robots?
[the kids all chat at once about it being a great idea]
Milhouse Van Houten: And, also, you should win things by watching.
Focus Group Guy: [sighs]
Roger Myers Jr.: [turns off the mirror disguise in the window] You kids don't know what you want. That's why you're still kids, 'cause you're stupid. Just tell me what's wrong with the freakin' show!
[turns the mirror back on]
Ralph Wiggum: [starts crying] Mommy!
Lisa Simpson: Um, excuse me, sir. The thing is, there's not really anything wrong with the Itchy & Scratchy Show. It's as good as ever. But after so many years, the characters just can't have the same impact they once had.
Roger Myers Jr.: [turns the mirror off again] That's it. That's it, little girl. You've saved Itchy & Scratchy!
Blue-haired Lawyer: [holding out a piece of paper to Lisa] Please sign these papers indicating that you did not save Itchy & Scratchy.
